The duPont Ball Library Innovation Lab is proud to offer 3D printing free of charge to all current Stetson students, faculty, and staff. With the power of additive manufacturing, you can turn almost anything you can think of into a physical plastic object!
For tips on getting started, check out our 3D technology guides:
- How to 3D print in the lab
- How to make your own 3D files
- Using the Library's 3D scanners to scan real-life objects for printing
Patrons are asked to follow a few rules while using the 3D printers:
1. No more than 2 printers per person. Please be considerate of fellow patrons and give others a chance to start their projects.
2. No printing weapons (even costume or prop weapons!) or obscene objects.
3. No printing items with intent to sell them.
4. Do not change filament without first asking permission from the Lab Manager.
5. Be respectful of the Lab's equipment and others using it. Keep in mind that there are offices near the Lab.
6. Comply with all intellectual property laws and regulations.
The Library Innovation Lab reserves the right to refuse to print anything for any reason. Problematic prints will be cancelled without warning.
Additionally, we ask that patrons follow these guidelines for best printing outcomes, to reduce waste and frustration:
- If at all possible, arrange for your print to finish by the time the library closes.
- While the printers CAN pause overnight, there is always a risk that the print will fail our create an ugly seam upon restarting.
- Stick around for a few minutes to make sure the first layer of your print comes out correctly.
- If it doesn't you'll return in a few hours to find a pile of plastic spaghetti instead!
- Pick up your prints in a timely manner from the finished prints table. Prints left unclaimed for more than a week will be given away or discarded.
